This Privacy Policy describes how PricePilot ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the PricePilot mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using PricePilot, you agree to the terms of this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information. Email address, display name, and account preferences when you create an account.
- Search inputs. Barcodes, product photos, text queries, retailer links, and receipts you submit to the Service.
- Watchlists and history. Products you save, target prices you set, and your comparison history within the app.
- Support communications. Information you provide when you contact us for support.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, anonymized usage events, and crash diagnostics.
- Purchase records. Anonymized identifiers tied to your Apple in-app purchases or subscriptions (handled by Apple).
2. How We Use Information
- To run product comparisons and return retailer results.
- To identify products from your barcodes, photos, or links using third-party product-identification and retailer-data providers.
- To maintain your account, watchlists, history, savings totals, and leaderboard ranking.
- To improve app performance, diagnose crashes, and develop new features.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties to power product identification (image and barcode recognition), retailer price lookups, hosting, analytics, and crash reporting. They access only the information needed to perform their function.
- Apple. Subscription and in-app purchase processing is handled by Apple under its own privacy policy.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information to comply with law, lawful requests, or to protect rights, safety, and property.
- Business transfers. If PricePilot is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred subject to this policy.
4. Third-Party Providers We Use
PricePilot currently relies on the following categories of providers. Specific providers may change over time as we improve the Service:
- Product identification and image understanding (Google Gemini API)
- Web and retailer search providers
- Authentication and database hosting (Supabase)
- Application hosting (Railway)
- Crash and performance diagnostics
5. Data Retention
We retain account data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing the contact below. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics and abuse prevention.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access, correction, or deletion. You can request a copy of your data, correct inaccuracies, or delete your account by contacting us.
- Camera and photo access. The app requests camera access only to scan barcodes and capture product photos. You can revoke this at any time in iOS Settings.
- Push notifications. You can opt out of notifications in iOS Settings.
- Marketing emails. Every promotional email includes an unsubscribe link.
7. Children's Privacy
PricePilot is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest where applicable. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Users
PricePilot is operated from the United States. By using the Service, you consent to your information being processed in the United States.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
